When Should You Perform CPR?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving technique that can be highly beneficial for anyone.

There are some alert signs about to suggest when a person should do CPR on anyone.

  • No breathing
  • No pulse

Sometimes if a person is electrocuted or drowned, then also he may need CPR. Or if they have inhaled too much smoke from a fire, then you can call for CPR.

When to begin CPR?

Well, the answer is instant. Imagine you walking on a street and someone falls down in front of you. Or you see an accident on a highway or someone’s lying unconscious in his car.

What should you do? How do you know if you should perform CPR or not?

Immediately give a call to 911 and enquire about what should you do. Or if you have someone nearby discuss with them. Seconds count when you are deciding to give CPR.

Is the person responsive? Try to wake the person up. See if he is responding to you or not. CPR is usually given to a person who has become unconscious.

Is he breathing? See if the chest is rising and falling? Can you hear the breath? Can you feel their breath on their skin? If not, then start CPR

See their pulse. Check if the person has a pulse or not. You should use your forefinger and middle finger for it. Place it on the wrist of the person to check their pulse.

Rely on your gut: During the time of emergency, you should rely on your judgment. If you cannot find the pulse, then start CPR instantly. If the person isn’t breathing, then also start CPR.

It takes minutes for the brain to get irreversibly damaged and death may follow soon. Hence a fast response is very important.

Whether you know how to give CPR or not, it is important to call 911 so that help can come to you immediately.

It is also important to have CPR Certification to render help under such a situation. However, if you are planning to get the proper training for it, you should join the classes that are most reliable and renowned.

Imagine you standing helpless when your dear one needs you the most. So, go for CPR training for general safety and backup help.
